Abhishek Cherath

I'm currently a Research Assistant at Stony Brook University, pursuing an MSI degree in Physics in the Kumar Lab.

I work on neutral-atom systems for Quantum information research. The basic idea here is to take atoms (in our case, Ytterbium), and to trap them into an array. Each of these atoms is then a qubit, and we can realize interesting quantum circuits and states in this array. I presented our progress towards these arrays at DAMOP in 2025.

Previously, I was a Software Developer at Drifting in Space, who have since been acquired by Modal labs.

Before that, I co-founded Feather Systems, a remote desktop startup.

I studied Physics & Mathematics at Stony Brook University . You can find my bachelor's thesis (on optical pumping in Rubidium) here

You can follow my open source work on github. I've summarized my recent software work and skills here.
